Hanby Elementary School
School Counseling
Our school counselor, Ms. Rusk, supports our MTSS (multi-tiered systems of support) by providing small group and individual support to our Hanby Bees. Second Step, Coping Cat, Superflex, and Zones of Regulation are just a few of the evidenced-based curricula that Ms. Rusk utilizes. Ms. Rusk also serves as our homelessness and foster care liaison and 504 coordinator.
Small Group Counseling Sessions
Small group counseling works with three or four students on the same topic. Group counseling allows students to share similar experiences or problems with their peers. This in turn takes away the feeling of isolation many students feel when they are having a problem.
Group sessions are structured learning activities and are held with age appropriate peers. Group sessions include various activities such as drawing, role playing, reading books, playing games and group discussions.
